JFF (Jobs For the Future) is an organization that drives the transformation of the American workforce and education systems to achieve equitable economic advancement for us all, and they have for over 40 years been working with organizations to design solutions, scale best practices, influence policy, and invest in innovations.
Check out a statement from JFF about our participation here:
"In 2022, Jobs for the Future (JFF) selected Diwala as one of five "Innovators to watch" highlighting Diwala´s wallet and infrastructure as a leader in user-centered design of credentials. Diwala was an active participant in JFF interoperability plugfests, sharing their expertise on implementing W3C technical standards, contributing to refining these standards, and developing an openly available credential verifier.
Diwala took the initiative to provide technical assistance to other participants, contributing to standards implementation for numerous companies, and generously shared their resources. JFF is grateful for Diwala´s leadership and excellence in this field and in moving interoperability forward."
API IntegrationWe are also happy to announce that we can now enable one of the most requested features by our customers; the issuance of both training and ID membership credentials through an API integration.
In this regard, our latest milestone involved enabling the Uganda Law Society to seamlessly integrate with our platform through an API to enable a more automated issuance of their credentials.
After the long anticipated wait, we have finalized our Issuer 3.0, and tested it with several of our clients with exciting reviews!
“This one I am really impressed with! This process is much easier and faster.”
- Adam Chatbar, Pan Africa Law Society.
“This is beautiful! Well done!”
- Gloria Komukama, Project Girls for Girls.
The new platform has undergone technical due diligence to ensure strong quality control of the security and scalability of our technology. We are thrilled to announce that we can now issue any kind of credential, starting with our brand-new Membership IDs. We’ve developed and tested Membership IDs with the Uganda Law Society to enhance trust and compliance towards our brand. The official launch of the platform will take place in January next year, and we can't wait to onboard all our new clients who are eager to try it out.
The Diwala 3.0 platform enables you to create, seal, and issue tamper-proof certificates and membership IDs in just 3 simple steps!
We are experiencing a lot of interest from associations and societies, and the Uganda Law Society, the East Africa Law Society, the Pan Africa Law Society, The Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers, the Uganda Marketers Society, the Society of Petroleum Engineers Nigeria, and the Human Resource Managers´ Association of Uganda are already issuing credentials with the Diwala platform.
See statements from some of them below, where they share with us that the platform is making their process both more secure and about 70-90% more efficient than before!

I want to issue digital credentials
The verifiable credential landscape is expanding rapidly with the new EIDAS 2 framework from the EU and the development of Zero Proof Knowledge credentials—a key focus area for our product development strategy in 2024. All to ensure users' ownership, privacy, and security. With the incredible development of AI, ensuring privacy and trust, in data, personhood, and its sources, will be an integral part of the success of any sector and our collective industry.
Our focus for next year is to help issuers with large pools of consumer or customer data and aid them in fighting fraud.
Project Girls for Girls is dedicated to empowering and inspiring young women across the world to reach their full potential, especially in leadership. With the addition of Malawi, we now have five active Girls for Girls institutions in five different countries, that are utilizing the Diwala platform to issue digitally verifiable credentials.
This exciting development marks a significant step forward in our contribution to uplifting young women globally, and we cannot wait to see the positive impact we will make in Malawi.
Diwala is now active in 10 different African countries.
lAs I reflect on the past year, one thing is abundantly clear: resilience has been at the heart of our journey at Diwala. From both a personal and team perspective, we have encountered enormous obstacles in the ever-evolving technological and financial landscape. Despite this, we have remained steadfast and these hurdles, though substantial, have only served to fuel our determination to create the lasting, positive impact we aim to achieve.
As we navigated the challenges and uncertainties, we found ourselves leaning more into each other, forging bonds that extend far beyond mere colleagues. To me, our team is more than just a group of individuals working together; we have become a close-knit family. The trials of this year have taught us the immense value of mutual support and growth. We have discovered that our strength lies not just in our talents but in our collective fighting spirit.
One of the truly gratifying highlights for me this year has been witnessing the growth in the utilization of the Diwala platform with over 3X revenue growth and the issuance of over 40,000 digital credentials. This achievement is, to me, an incredibly promising sign that we are standing on the threshold of a transformative era, one that holds the potential to profoundly improve the lives of countless individuals.
Now, more than ever, I have come to deeply appreciate the value of customer feedback which I believe has been instrumental in shaping our improved platform. I have learned to listen even more attentively, understand more comprehensively, and be more empathetic to serve our community better. Our new platform, Diwala 3.0 stands as a testament to how much we value user feedback.
This latest iteration boasts a user-centric design with an intuitive interface, ensuring accessibility and usability for all, reaffirming our dedication to serving a diverse audience within and outside of Africa.
Our journey towards this milestone is exemplified by a couple of new exciting features. First our transition to a web-based application. We came to understand the varied accessibility challenges faced by our broad user base. In response, we made a pivotal shift in our approach, crafting a front-end interface that is not only user-friendly but also accessible on a wider range of devices. This ensures that every user can effortlessly access their credentials, regardless of their digital environment.
Additionally, we have optimized our security, streamlined the onboarding process, and reduced the issuance procedure to just three straightforward steps, eliminating unnecessary back-and-forth interactions for both issuers and credential recipients. Unlike in the past, we are happy to highlight that issuers will no longer have to wait for recipients to enrol before they can issue them their credentials. Additionally, credential recipients can give consent, enroll, and receive their credentials in one step.
Our ultimate aim is to empower individuals worldwide with the ability to swiftly and easily verify crucial documents and credentials, and we are making steady progress toward achieving this goal.
Thank you for joining us on this journey of growth and innovation. I cannot wait to see what the year 2024 has in store for us.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from the Diwala Team 🎄
We are excited about what next year will bring!
